Tyrenol(타이레놀)

 Tyrenol's active ingredient and generic form, acetaminophen, was first used in medicine in 1894 and gained widespread use in the 1950s.

 

It is a popular alternative to aspirin because it's gentler on the stomach.

 처방없이 살 수 있는 약이라 Overdose 가 문제임. 한해 미국에 1500 여명이 과복용으로 응급실에 실려 옴.

      Because so many medications contain acetaminophen, it's easy to take more than the recomended dosage without realizing it.

--------->  Symptoms of an overdose : nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, sweating, extreme fatigue, unusual bleeding or bruising, pain in the upper right part of the abdomen, or yellowing of the skin or eyes.

          근데! 작은 용량에도 간이 상할 수 있다는 사실. -- 특히 alcohol 과 함께 섭취하면 더더욱 그럼.

200 개가 넘는 약에 acetaminophen 이 함유되어 있다.

 

 Combination acetaminophen products that contain nasal decongestants, antihistamines, cough suppressants, or expectorants should not given to children younger than 2 years of age.

 

Chewable acetaminophen tablets may be sweetened with aspartame and should be avoided by people who have phenylketonuria.
