Pancreatic Cancer (췌장암)

배고픈 시간에 배에서 꼬로록 거리는 소리가 들릴 때 6 인치 길이의 췌장은 배고픔과 관여한다. 왜냐하면 췌장은 호르몬을 분비하고, 혈당레벨을 조절하며 소화에 필요한 효소를 분비하기 때문이다.

 

Symptoms of pancreatic cancer include a loss of appetite and weight, as well as nausea, abdominal pain, and jaundice(a yellowing of the skin and eyes). 그러나 증상은 항상 질병이 한참 진행된 늦은 시기에 발현이 된다.

 

치명적인 암 중에 하나인 체장암은 매해 38000 여명이 걸리는데, 이중에 34000 여명의 목숨을 앗아간다. 왜냐하면 이는 예방하거나 치료하기가 매우 어렵기 때문이며 5년내 생존률은 오직 5퍼센트 정도이다.

 

특정한 원인은 밝혀지진 않았지만, 일단, Family history, Genetic syndrome(such as BRCA mutation), African American...

     이외 외적인 요인으론 Heavy drinking of alcohol, Smoking, Being overweight.

     And most people who get pancreatic cancer are older, in their seventies or eighties.

 

To diagnose the disease, doctors examine the pancreas with an x-ray, MRI, CT scan, ultrasound, or biopsy.

    Pancreatic cancer is aggressive, which means that it quickly spreads to other parts of the body.
