관세음보살 보문품 1-1

1장. 관세음의 이름에 대하여 묻고 대답하다.

Chapter 1. Asking and answering about the name of Kwan-Sae-Um Bodhisattva.

 

1. 이때, 무진의보살이 자리에서 일어나 오른편 어깨를 걷어올리고 부처님을 향하여 합장하고 여쭈었다.

1. At this time, Moo-Jin-Ui Bodhisattva got up from his seat and lifted his right shoulder and then asked to Buddha (Sakyamuni) after putting his hands together.

『세존이시여, 관세음보살은 무슨 인연으로 이름을 관세음보살이라고 하나이까.』

『Sae-Jon, are there any relations or reasons why they make a name and call Kwan-Sae-Um Bodhisattva? 』

 

 

* Sae-Jon : Sae means the whole world and Jon means highly respected. So, Buddha(Sakyamuni)'s disciples usually call Buddha as Sae-Jon( the highly respected person in the whole world).
